Sew Like A Rock Star

I literally just walked in the door, hugged the kids, and plopped down in front of the computer. I couldn't wait to upload and share my experience this morning visiting the largest fabric store in the entire state of New Jersey. Yes, New Jersey isn't that big- but believe me the store was. I could've gotten lost in there! And hello!! the pile of remnant fabrics was the size of my living room and kitchen combined.

If you follow TrashN2Tees on Instgram you may have seen me post & promote BERNINA's SEWAPALOOZA events. What the heck is a uhhhh sew-a-pa-looooza anyway? It's an all day (or two day) event for sewing enthusiasts of all levels- we made some rad projects using machine techniques, serger/overlock, and embroidery designs. Complete with foam fingers!!! It was especially awesome to be on hand to help teach the serger project which I helped design- turning a tshirt into a backpack!

The sold out class even had a chance to sneak a peek at some of the upcoming book projects. We talked about different ways you can manipulate a tshirt, making and extending tshirt yarn, and I even showed them how to make some reusable produce bags from their t-shirt sleeves. I found a few kindred spirits here who jump headfirst into projects and love quick & dirty sewing as much as I do.

Creative Woman Who Inspire and Inform

Last week I found myself on Oh My Handmade Goodness 50 Creative Woman Who Inspire & Inform list- whoa! So many of the bombshells on this list I have turned to myself for guidance and inspiration. Alex, Dyana, Isa, Colleen, and Lela just to name a few. So lucky to have the love & support from all of you & special thanks with extra big hugs to Jessika Hepburn for celebrating woman who've overcome challenges, broke the mold, and continue to achieve extraordinary things! Who would you add to the list?

Oh, No you Donut! (Yes, I did.)

Bake at 350
You can admit it, there are not many things that make you happy like rainbow sprinkles- am I right? For those of you who already know I've been hard at work finishing my first book; The T-shirt Revolution. (Now being honest- they'll probably change that title.) Anyway- all things rainbow sprinkled were on my mind already when a dear customer dropped me an email asking if I would be willing to work up two donut tees for her twins upcoming birthday party. Uh, yes and I think I'll make one for myself. And I did. But seriously these two are so stinking adorable! (Thanks Abbey for sending in a photo and tagging @TrashN2Tees on IG throughout the day! I loved 'being a part' of the day!)

I have no doubt that all the kids were buzzing around high on sugar and fun at this party- wish I could've been there! Now if only I could convince one of the boys to have a DIY donut themed party... we could do this:

Make a Donut Costume /Studio DIY
Make Donut Wood Wheels // ikat bag
Turn Cheerios into Donuts // Maison Cupcake

There are so many sweet (get it? hu huh huh?) tutorials  floating around I could stay here all day. My brain is swirling with ideas for a lavish donut bar- if you can come over and build your own donut anyway you'd like what would be on/in it? Mine would be drizzled with marshmallow, chocolate, and graham cracker crumbles- or maybe white icing with Frutti Pebbles?
